Meanwhile, Hammerschmidt publishes his story and threatens to end Frank's campaign weeks before the election. Claire urges Frank to use a heavier hand in the situation, and they decide to fight back by creating chaos. Frank addresses the public declaring that the nation is at total war, ordering the full force of the military be used to combat global terrorism regardless of the cost.

Storyline

They and Seth Grayson also develop a mobile application which can secretly be used to monitor the user's activity, including their location.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Darrow’s character was his relationship with the Underwoods. In the second season, Meechum has a threesome with Underwoods but is shown to have kissed Frank along with Claire. As this was a few years before Kevin Spacey announced his sexuality in the wake of the allegations against him, the scene is even more eye-opening with what we know about the actor today. Kate Mara spent the least amount of time on House of Cards but like Rachel Brosnahan, her role was hugely impactful on the story. She was murdered by Frank Underwood in the second season, but would later reappear, alongside Pete Russo, to haunt Frank during a hallucination, heavily signifying that the President feels guilt for his roles in their deaths. Following this, Claire disappears for three weeks, prompting questions of her ability to lead, and leading Usher to plan to use the 25th Amendment to remove her from office. Claire foils Usher's plan and fires her Cabinet, replacing it with an all-female Cabinet, much to Annette's surprise. Annette plans to use Claire's prior abortions against her, but Claire retaliates by revealing to Duncan he is not Annette's biological son. One hundred days after Claire takes office, she faces increased scrutiny, particularly in light of her husband's death following his resignation.
